Fuel Additives

There are several fuel additives on the market that claim to assist performance and prolong engine life.   Vegetable oil tends to gel at above freezing so an anti-icing additive might help. Chemtech Diesel Power or STP Diesel Fuel Treatment both contain an anti freeze and claim to keep your fuel injectors clean and increase performance.

I use the Chemtech product because it appears to offer better value for money at about 1 cent per litre treated.  It apparently cleans injectors and fuel lines, reduces exhaust smoke, removes gums and varnish, decarbonises the combustion chamber and prolongs filter life.  A biocide prevents and kills algae and bacteria in fuel lines and fuel storage tanks.  It contains ‘anti-icing’ and ‘cold-flow’ improver.
